All Ears Audiology is located at 63 Dulwich Ave, Dulwich. Parking is readily available on Dulwich avenue or off-street behind our office.
You will be greeted by one of our friendly administration staff on arrival.
One of our experienced hearing healthcare professionals will meet you and take you to a sound-treated room.
First we will spend quality time getting to know you, your lifestyle and your listening goals.
Following we will perform a thorough assessment of your hearing. This is non-invasive and should not cause any discomfort.
- Otoscopy – visual examination of your ears
- Impedance Audiometry – using a small hand-held machine this examines the health of your middle ear and the integrity of your auditory nerve. This test only takes a couple of minutes for each ear.
- Audiometry – Using headphones placed over the ears or small foam insert earphones you will be required to indicate the softest sounds you can hear. This can be tiring and requires a high level of concentration. Sometimes a small headband will be placed behind your ears for further testing.
- Your ability to understand speech at an appropriate level for your hearing loss will also be assessed. This assist greatly in determining what hearing solutions will be best for you.
We will discuss your results with you in detail and make recommendations that meet your listening goals. Sometimes the results from your hearing assessment may indicate that further testing is required and/or medical management by an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist. At All Ears Audiology we work closely with your General Practitioner and local Ear, Nose and Throat specialists to ensure the health of your hearing system. We will discuss this with you at your appointment if we believe further investigations may be required.
Using the results of your hearing assessment, we may recommend that you trial a hearing device.Just like glasses, hearing devices take time to get used to. We will give you lots of advice on how to manage and use a hearing device.
For some hearing losses conventional hearing aids may not offer the best solution. The team at All Ears Audiology includes experienced specialists in implantable hearing technology (i.e. cochlear implants and bone-anchored hearing devices (Baha)). In fact we are one of the few clinics able to provide this comprehensive service.
Coming to terms with your hearing loss can be difficult. For many adults, hearing has deteriorated gradually and it is only when others start to comment that you realise you have missed hearing things. The sooner you attend to your hearing loss, the better the outcomes and your quality of life.
It is important to remember that at All Ears Audiology you are not alone. We will be with you every step of the way.
