Jenna Bongioletti

Hi, my name is Jenna Bongioletti and I am a certified practising speech pathologist and internationally certified listening and spoken language specialist. I completed my bachelor of speech pathology with honours at Flinders University in 2008, and passed my certification exam to become an auditory verbal therapist (LSLS Cert. AVT) in 2018. I also have a Certificate II in Auslan, and I am a passionate advocate for communication rights, and helping people connect through communication. 

My first job out of uni was up in sunny Mildura where I worked with children with disabilities and their families. I then moved back to Adelaide where I developed a true passion for working with people who are deaf or hard of hearing at CanDo4Kids as a Senior Speech Pathologist. After meeting my now husband, I moved to Canberra where I managed the local branch of The Shepherd Centre and was mentored by some fabulous therapists along my journey to become a Listening and Spoken Language Specialist (LSLS). I took a break from clinical work for a few years where I worked as allied health product manager at TAFE NSW while running a small private practice to keep my skills up to date. I have worked in a consultative position at All Ears & Speech and Little Allied Health since January 2021 and commenced working full-time as Manager of Speech Pathology in January 2022.

I have almost 15 years’ experience working with people of all ages who are deaf or hard of hearing, including people using hearing aids and a range of implantable hearing devices. I have walked alongside clients from the first stages of device candidacy evaluation through to working on listening and communication skills post ’switch on’ and absolutely love watching people develop their confidence and achieve their goals.

In 2021, I started working towards my PhD with Sydney University where I am focusing on understanding how children who are deaf or hard of hearing develop conversation and social language skills. This is a continuation of my honours research which focused on how cochlear implantation influences conversation breakdown and repair for adults with acquired hearing loss. In my ’spare time’ I also do some teaching at Sydney University and volunteer for the South Australian branch of Speech Pathology Australia. 

I have two gorgeous cats, Monty and Louis, three nephews and a niece – all of whom I love to bits! I attempt to paint and do pottery, love a bit of musical theatre and while I can’t actually sing, this never stops me trying!
