Manager of Speech Pathology

Hi, my name is Kellie and I am a certified practising speech pathologist with special interests in working with the Deaf/ Hard of Hearing community and in Early Intervention.

I graduated from Flinders University in 2012 and have had the pleasure of working in private practice in Adelaide , along with time spent working in country and metropolitan community health teams in Adelaide. In 2015 I moved to Sydney for 5 years and enjoyed working at St George Hospital and Sutherland Hospital for the South Eastern Local Health District of NSW Heath. Here I worked with children from 0-16 many of which were developing their communication across multiple spoken languages. Working with my team to develop various early intervention programs and with interpreters for our multilingual families was incredibly interesting and rewarding . I was incredibly fortunate during this time to take part in multiple trainings surrounding early language intervention (BLADES), Key Word Sign, Lidcombe Program certification , play development and speech sound disorders and therapeutic interventions . I further trained with the University of Sydney in becoming a clinical Educator / supervisor to students and early career speech pathologists. I love seeing the upcoming speech pathologists grow and thrive as students and clinicians and nurture this growth.

2020 was the year that I returned to Adelaide and started working as a Senior Speech Pathologist at Little Allied Health( my work family). This is where I found my passion for working within the Deaf and hard of hearing space with children and their families alongside our wonderful Audiology team. I’m incredibly passionate about collaborative care in this area and looking how our service continues to provide and innovate within our early intervention and care beyond the early years.

I have been on the road to becoming a Listening and Spoken Language Specialist (AVT cert) since 2020. Recently I have started the journey to learn AUSLAN and just love when some of my clients can teach me a sign or two. I’m incredibly lucky to be the manager a very passionate team of Speech Pathologists and supporting them to grow and be the best at keeping children and families central in all that we do.

Currently I hold a voluntary role with Speech Pathology Australia (SA Branch) as one of the Member Engagement Executive leaders. I’m very passionate about our profession and bringing together the members of SPA for networking events.

At home – I’m called “Mummy” to two beautiful girls Eve and Eugenie (Gigi) , along with my husband Tom. I often enjoy cooking , photography, painting and a nice buttery chardonnay (one of the first Auslan signs I learnt).
